Renowned West Bengal singer Nachiketa Chakraborty fell suddenly ill on Saturday night. Experiencing sudden discomfort, he was immediately taken to a private hospital in Kolkata. Anandabazar Patrika and other media outlets have reported his condition.
The 61-year-old artist had been performing at consecutive musical events recently. On Saturday night, he felt chest discomfort and was admitted around 2:00 a.m. Doctors stated that due to cardiac complications, two stents were inserted, and his condition is now stable.
Nachiketa’s daughter, Dhansiri Chakraborty, said, “My father is much better than before. After completing several shows, he became suddenly unwell. We took him to hospital immediately. There was a temporary heart problem, but he is much healthier now.”
Sources close to the singer noted that he had no prior heart issues, though the recent consecutive performances had caused physical strain. A scheduled performance in Asansol on Sunday had to be cancelled due to his illness, and all upcoming shows over the next few days have also been postponed.
