As the clock struck midnight, the verdant grounds of Mom Inn in Bogura remained alive with the energy of hundreds of spectators, undeterred by fatigue. The eagerly awaiting audience witnessed a spectacular evening as Runa Laila, the legendary songstress, took to the stage and enthralled everyone with her iconic rendition of “Sādher Lau Banailam Boiragi”. The crowd joined in, their voices blending with hers in a chorus of nostalgia and joy.
Adding to the magic, veteran performer Khurshid Alam, renowned for “Chumki Choleche Eka”, appeared on stage, swaying to the rhythm and igniting an ecstatic applause. Observers described this moment as one of the most memorable highlights of the TMSS Channel i Music Awards 2025, a celebration renowned for its variety and surprises.
Runa Laila opened with a patriotic song penned by Gazi Majharul Anwar and composed by Shafik Tuhin, before performing the recent Eid blockbuster “Jwala Jwala” alongside contemporary artists Imran Mahmudul and Konal. She fondly recounted the story of “Sādher Lau”, recalling the iconic question she faced at Kolkata Airport: “Are you Sādher Lau?”—a tale that left the audience visibly moved.
Earlier, the stage had been graced by the legendary Sabina Yasmin, who began with “Ei Mon Tomake Dilam”, followed by the folk tunes “Bhawaiya” and “Mui Na Shunon Tor Kotha”, evoking waves of nostalgia among the audience.
The five-hour-long extravaganza featured performances by veterans and contemporary stars alike, including Rafiqul Alam, Onima Rai, Sithy Saha, Jhilick, Liza, Louipa, Mahtim Shakib, and Angel Noor. The evening was further enriched by dance and theatrical segments, notably the Behula-Lakhinder narrative dance by local talents Apu Biswas and Ador Azad, which enthralled the crowd after 11 PM.
This annual event, launched in 2004, has grown over two decades into a major northern Bangladesh cultural celebration. The evening commenced with collective renditions of “Dhan Dhanya Pushpo Bhora” and “Prothom Bangladesh Amar Shesh Bangladesh”, followed by opening addresses from Channel i Managing Director Faridur Reza Sagor, Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon, and TMSS Founder Executive Director Hosne Ara Begum. Prominent attendees included Sheikh Siraj, Moudud Hossain, Majharul Islam, Sanaul Arefin, Zahir Uddin Mahmud, Mukit Majumdar, and Rezanu Rahman.
