Madi Diaz has unveiled a full-cover album of Blink-182’s Enema of the State to raise funds for the Defending Our Neighbours Fund. The album, titled Enema of the Garden State, is available exclusively on Bandcamp through Anti- Records. Tracks such as “Don’t Leave Me” and “Anthem” are available for listening, with the option to purchase the album directly on Bandcamp.
The Nashville-based singer-songwriter, who released Fatal Optimist last month, explained in a statement that the cover album initially began as a fun project driven by her long-standing admiration for the band and the album itself. “I wanted to see if I could let the nostalgia guide my memory for the lyrics and create a punky acoustic arrangement,” Diaz said. “No planning, no overthinking, no analysing—just diving into the songs. It was pure fun, pure joy.”
Diaz revealed that she had not initially planned to release the project but was inspired by the Trump administration’s aggressive mass deportation policies. “I started thinking about how brilliant the title Enema of the State is for a record,” she continued. “The title feels so ironically current—politically, culturally, and socially.”
She added that the decision to release Enema of the Garden State as a charity project was driven by a desire to use the album to raise awareness and support for those defending their right to live, work, and stay in the United States. All proceeds from the album will benefit the Defending Our Neighbours Fund, which provides legal resources for immigrant families and individuals in need of advocacy.
Diaz concluded, “For me, this project has become so much more than just a nostalgia for teenage rebellion. It’s a stand. Fuck ICE. Enema of the State Forever.”
