Indian singer Lucky Ali has led a life as melodious as his music — filled with love, separation, and self-realisation. The 67-year-old artist, who married three women from three different countries, now lives alone but says he has no regrets about any of his failed marriages.
In a recent interview, Lucky reflected on his personal life and marriages, saying, “There’s no rule that your first partner must also be your last. I’ve married three women from three different nations. Even my father married a woman from outside India.”
Despite the divorces, Lucky maintains good relationships with all his former wives. “None of my marriages lasted, but the relationships did,” he said. “We may no longer live together, yet we continue to stand by each other.”
Lucky Ali’s first marriage took place in 1996 with New Zealand model Megan Jane McCleary. He even featured her in the music video for his iconic song “O Sanam.” The couple had two children — Tazeen and Tasmiya.
After parting ways with Megan, Lucky developed a close friendship with Iranian-origin Anahita, which eventually turned into marriage. They have two children together — Sara and Raiyan.
In 2010, Lucky married for the third time — this time to British model Kate Elizabeth Hallam. The couple had a son named Dani Maqsud Ali. However, this relationship too came to an end in 2017, and since then, Lucky has chosen to remain single.
Reflecting on his journey, the singer said, “Every relationship teaches you something. When love is genuine, the bond doesn’t truly break — even if the relationship ends.”
Lucky Ali also remains devoted to his children. “I’ve always taken responsibility for them,” he shared. “I believe children grow best when they are raised with love — they learn what they see in their parents.”
Lucky’s outlook on life may well be shaped by his own family history. His parents, actor Mehmood and Madhu Kumari, separated years ago. Later, Mehmood married an American woman named Tracy. Madhu Kumari, meanwhile, was the sister of legendary actress Meena Kumari.
