Katseye and Huntr/x’s ‘Golden’ Break Grammy Records with 2026 Nominations

At the 2026 Grammys, girl groups are making history. Katseye, the global girl group, has earned a Best New Artist nomination, while Huntr/x, the girl group featured in Kpop Demon Hunters, has received multiple nods for their hit song “Golden,” taken from the Netflix film.

This year marks a milestone as it will be the first time in almost 20 years that a girl group’s song has been nominated for Song of the Year. The last such nomination came in 2007, when the Chicks won the category for their song “Not Ready to Make Nice.”

In a notable turn of events, if “Golden” wins Song of the Year, the Grammy will go to its co-writers, EJAE and Mark Sonnenblick. The track was recorded by Huntr/x, the animated trio whose voices are provided by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami. In this competitive category, “Golden” will compete against the likes of Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra,” Doechii’s “Anxiety,” Rosé and Bruno Mars’ “APT,” Bad Bunny’s “DtMF,” Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther,” Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild,” and Billie Eilish’s “Wildflower.”

In the past 25 years, only two other girl group songs have earned nominations for Song of the Year: TLC’s “Unpretty” in 2000 and Destiny’s Child’s “Say My Name” in 2001. However, neither of these songs won the award.

Both Huntr/x’s “Golden” and Katseye’s “Gabriela” have made history in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category. This marks the first time a girl group has been nominated in this category since its introduction in 2012. These songs will go up against the likes of Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande’s “Defying Gravity,” Rosé and Bruno Mars’ “APT,” and SZA and Kendrick Lamar’s “30 for 30.”

Meanwhile, Katseye is making its mark in the Best New Artist category, representing girl groups, which have seen some notable recognition over the years. Wet Leg was nominated in 2023, Chloe x Halle in 2019, and Haim in 2015. This year, Katseye will compete against Olivia Dean, The Marías, Addison Rae, Sombr, Leon Thomas, Alex Warren, and Lola Young. Notably, only two all-women groups have ever won this award: The Judds in 1985 and The Chicks in 1999.

Additionally, Huntr/x’s Kpop Demon Hunters film has earned nominations for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and Best Song Written for Visual Media for “Golden.”

Outside of Katseye and Kpop Demon Hunters, British R&B trio FLO also earned recognition, receiving a nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album for their Access All Areas album. The group, consisting of Jorja Douglas, Stella Quaresma, and Renée Downer, follows in the footsteps of Chloe x Halle, who were nominated for Ungodly Hour in 2021 and The Kids Are Alright in 2019. FLO will be up against Durand Bernarr’s Bloom, Bilal’s Adjust Brightness, Destin Conrad’s Love on Digital, and Terrace Martin and Kenyon Dixon’s Come As You Are.
