It’s KATSEYE, B—h: Girl Group Members Pay Tribute to Britney Spears with Dance Performance

Before becoming pop sensations adored by millions of EYEKONs, the members of KATSEYE had their own musical inspirations — including Britney Spears. In a new video, two of the girl group’s members, Megan and Lara, paid homage to the superstar.

Posted on Instagram and TikTok on Monday (10 November), the clip shows Megan and Lara in a dark dance studio performing choreographed moves in perfect sync. They spin, slide, and flip their hair to Spears’ early 2000s hit “I’m a Slave 4 U.” At one point, Megan mouths along to the Princess of Pop’s lyrics, staring fiercely into the camera: “Now watch me.”

Fans quickly flooded the comments with praise, with one writing, “THIS is the energy we need back in pop music.”

The tribute comes just days after KATSEYE earned their first Grammy nominations, receiving nods for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their hit “Gabriela.” In an interview with Billboard following the nominations, Megan revealed that the band’s group chat — which includes Daniela, Manon, Sophia, and Yoonchae — was “absolutely blowing up” with excitement.

“With any award or nomination, it means so much to us because we work so, so hard,” Megan said. “It’s proof that all the long hours and dedication are really paying off.”

Britney Spears herself was once nominated for Best New Artist, losing to Christina Aguilera in 2000, before winning her first Grammy in 2005 for Best Dance Recording with the Billboard Hot 100 hit “Toxic.”

KATSEYE has also honoured other pop icons on their rise to fame. The six members recently paid tribute to Mariah Carey’s iconic music videos in their visual for “Gabriela,” spoofing their own viral red-carpet interview with Billboard in the process.
