Dolly Sayantani Revives Classic Melody in New Song

Classic hits from the past are making a comeback in fresh musical arrangements, with contemporary artists blending nostalgic tunes into new compositions. One such example comes from celebrated Bangladeshi singer Dolly Sayantani, who recently released two new songs, one of which incorporates a portion of the iconic track “Ami Ekdin Tomay Na Dekhile”, originally performed by Runa Laila and Andrew Kishore.

The original song was featured in the 1988 film Dui Jibon, with lyrics penned by Moniruzzaman Monir and composition by Alam Khan. For her rendition, Dolly has creatively bridged the first two lines of the classic song with new lyrics written by Sudip Kumar Deep, while the musical arrangement has been handled by Shamim Mahmud. The song, a duet with Ruslan Mezbah, has been titled “Ekdin Tomay Na Dekhile”.

Speaking about the project, Dolly said,

“The song Ami Ekdin Tomay Na Dekhile, sung by the esteemed Runa Laila Apa and Andrew Dada for the film Dui Jibon, has always been very close to my heart. It remains equally beloved by music lovers across Bangladesh. It felt natural to incorporate a portion of this timeless classic into my new composition. I have released the song on my own channel, and I hope the nostalgic touch, framed within new lyrics, will delight audiences.”

Alongside this homage to a classic, Dolly Sayantani has also released a completely original track titled “Moira Jodi Jaigo Ami”, written and composed by Rohan Raj, further showcasing her versatility and commitment to contemporary Bangladeshi music.
