Dhaka’s Vibrant Pohela Boishakh Music Fest

Dhaka is set to transform into a vibrant cultural hub as the city prepares to celebrate Pohela Boishakh, the Bengali New Year, with a series of large-scale music concerts and festive gatherings. Across multiple venues, audiences will experience a diverse blend of contemporary sounds, popular bands, and energetic performances by leading artists, creating an atmosphere of collective celebration and cultural unity.

One of the most prominent events is the two-day concert titled “Carpe Diem – Lal Boishakhi 1433”, scheduled for 13 and 14 April at Kamal Atatürk Park in Banani. Organised by Asen and Rishka Connects, the event will feature some of the country’s most recognised musical figures. Among the headline performers are Habib Wahid and Pritom Hasan, alongside several popular bands. Organisers expect the festival to attract a large youthful audience, adding a fresh dimension to urban Pohela Boishakh celebrations.

Another major highlight is a special concert by Coke Studio Bangla, scheduled for 14 April at 3:00 PM at the Krira Prangon of the 100 Feet Madani Road area. The event is ticketed, with entry to the main concert zone requiring specific passes priced at 800 and 850 Bangladeshi Taka. The organisers have arranged tiered entry management to ensure crowd control and a smooth audience experience.

In addition, the popular band Chirkut will be performing across multiple university campuses during the festive period. Their schedule includes performances at East West University at 11:00 AM and North South University at 3:00 PM on 14 April, followed by a performance at United International University on 15 April. Their setlist is expected to include fan favourites such as “Jadur Shohor”, “Ahare Jibon”, “Duniya”, and “Kanamachi”, drawing strong engagement from student audiences.

Lead vocalist Sharmiin Sultana Sumi has expressed that the enthusiasm of young audiences remains a key source of inspiration for the band. She also highlighted that university-based performances during Pohela Boishakh offer meaningful opportunities for cultural exchange and artistic connection.

Authorities have confirmed that special arrangements are being implemented across Dhaka to manage security, traffic flow, and crowd control. Additional personnel will be deployed at major venues to ensure safe entry and exit systems, particularly at high-attendance events.

Overall, this year’s Pohela Boishakh celebrations are expected to turn Dhaka into a vast open-air stage, where parks, roads, and university campuses will resonate with music, youth energy, and festive spirit.
