In a refreshing departure from the current trend of musical covers and digital re-releases, Bangladesh Television (BTV) has successfully curated a landmark event featuring ten entirely original songs from the nation’s most prestigious bands. The initiative comes at a critical juncture for the industry; while the live concert circuit remains vibrant, the production of fresh studio material by established groups has become increasingly rare. By commissioning these new tracks, the state broadcaster aims to reignite the creative engines of the country’s rock and fusion pioneers, offering fans a rare glimpse into the contemporary evolution of their favourite acts.
The festival, titled ‘Band Utshob 2025’, is scheduled for a two-part broadcast beginning tonight at 10:00 PM. The project took flight three months ago when BTV executives approached the esteemed duo of lyricist Shahid Mahmud Jangi and composer Foad Nasser Babu. Their task was formidable: to coordinate ten legendary groups, many of whom were juggling international tours and various professional commitments, and produce high-quality original content. Despite the logistical complexity of synchronising the schedules of so many high-profile musicians, the recordings and subsequent studio filming were successfully wrapped up earlier this month.
The first evening of the broadcast will spotlight the diverse sounds of Renaissance, Shironamhin, Dalchhut, Tarun, and Nirjhor, representing a mix of philosophical lyrics and modern rock. The following night will shift focus to the iconic sounds of Souls, Feedback, Nova, Pentagon, and Parthibo, ensuring a comprehensive showcase of the various sub-genres that have defined Bangladeshi music over the decades.
‘Band Utshob 2025’ Performance Schedule
The festival is divided into two distinct broadcasts, featuring the following legendary and contemporary acts:
| Broadcast Date | Featured Bands | Key Figures Involved |

| Wednesday (Night Two) | Souls, Feedback, Parthibo, Pentagon, Nova | Composition: Foad Nasser Babu |

Industry veterans have hailed the move as a vital intervention. Shahid Mahmud Jangi remarked that the decline of traditional audio production companies had left a void in the market, making BTV’s role as a patron of the arts more important than ever. Partha Barua of Souls echoed this sentiment, noting that the station was instrumental in his band’s early rise to fame and that returning to its studios felt like a significant tribute to that heritage. BTV General Manager Nurul Azam remains optimistic that this youth-centric programming will successfully challenge old stereotypes of the channel, proving that the broadcaster can still be a hub for cutting-edge cultural expression.
