Legal Proceedings and Court Ruling

According to official reports, an unidentified hacker created three securities accounts in Jungkook’s name on 6th January 2024 and illicitly transferred 33,500 HYBE shares without his consent. Out of these, 500 shares were sold to a third party, while the remaining 33,000 were still under fraudulent ownership.

Upon discovering the fraud, Jungkook’s legal team took immediate action, filing a civil lawsuit to reclaim the lost assets. In February 2024, the Seoul Western District Court ruled that the stock transfer was invalid as there was no legitimate stock transfer agreement, recognising Jungkook as a victim of identity theft.

Suspicions and Investigation

Authorities suspect the involvement of an individual with inside knowledge of Jungkook’s financial assets, considering the complexity of the fraudulent transactions. The third-party buyer of the stolen shares had paid 20,000 USDT (cryptocurrency) to the hacker, who remains unidentified.

Law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the breach, as the incident raises serious concerns about financial security and personal data protection in the entertainment industry.

BigHit Music’s Statement

Jungkook’s agency, BigHit Music, released an official statement addressing the situation:

“As soon as the company and the artist became aware of the criminal activity, measures were taken to prevent substantial damage by suspending payments and restoring the account. Jungkook filed a civil lawsuit in 2024, seeking the return of 500 shares that were transferred to a third party. The Seoul Western District Court ruled in his favour, ordering the return of the shares to Jungkook. Apart from legal measures, we have also strengthened security protocols to safeguard artist-related personal information and prevent future breaches.”

Jungkook enlisted for mandatory military service on 12th December 2023 and is set to complete his duty by 11th June 2024. Despite his absence from the public eye, he continues to make headlines, proving his unwavering influence and the loyalty of his global fanbase, ARMY.
