The Bangladesh Cultural Reporters Association (BCRA) recently celebrated its 30th anniversary with a grand event held at the National Art Gallery of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka. The evening featured a discussion on “Our Role in the Development of Healthy Culture”, along with the presentation of awards to various luminaries from the cultural scene.
The event, titled BCRA Awards 2025, included lifetime achievement awards for magician Jewel Aich and veteran actress Anwara Begum. Other prominent figures in the entertainment industry were recognised for their contributions to film, television, and OTT platforms.
Actor Mosharraf Karim was honoured with the Most Popular Actor award, while actress Apu Biswas received the Most Popular Actress award. Prince Mahmud bagged the Most Popular Music Director and Composer award.
Porimoni was awarded Best Actress for her role in Rangila Kitab, while Sajal was recognised as Best Actor for his performance in Zeen Three. Kna received the Best Singer award, and Robiul Islam was honoured with the Best Lyricist award for the same film. The Best Director award went to Abu Raihan for Adventure of Sundarbans.
In the theatre category, Rashed Simanto received the Best Actor award for his role in the play Salut, while the Critics’ Award for Best Actor went to Toufique Mahbub for his performance in Khobnamama. Robena Reza won Best Actress for her role in Shadi Mubarak, and Kazi Naushaba Ahmed received the Best Actress award in the OTT category for Pet Kata 2.
Raisul Tamal bagged the Best Director award for Shaowla Phul, while Onno Iman received the Critics’ Award for Best Director for Abhab. The Best Music Show award was presented to producer Litu Sulaiman for Baishakhi Golden Song.
The awards ceremony also recognised outstanding dancers, with the Best Dancer award going to Mofassal Alif and Umme Tabassum Khan. Fahim Islam was awarded the Critics’ Best Singer (Modern) award. Special category awards were presented to actor Shamim Zaman and several other notable individuals.
In honour of BCRA’s 30th anniversary, awards were also given for exceptional contributions to journalism. Kader Gani Chowdhury, Secretary of the Bangladesh Federal Journalists’ Union, and Ziaul Kabir Suman, Head of Programmes at Baishakhi TV, were recognised for their work in the field. Poet Hasan Hafiz, President of the National Press Club, and Rezauddin Stalin, Director General of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, were honoured for their contributions to poetry.
Other special awards went to Tashik Ahmed, actor Shakil Khan, singer Saira Reza, Dhruv Guha, Asif Iqbal Ahmed, and Raju Alim.
The event was chaired by BCRA President Abhi Chowdhury, with National Press Club President Hasan Hafiz as the chief guest. The event was inaugurated by Kader Gani Chowdhury and Rezauddin Stalin. Kamrul Hasan, President of the Bangladesh Film Journalists’ Association (BACHASAS), was the chief speaker during the discussion segment of the evening.
