Back Together: Habib–Alik Reunite After Seventeen Years

Some partnerships withstand the test of time, patiently waiting for the right moment to reunite. Such is the story of Habib Wahid and S A Haque Alik, a remarkable duo whose creative collaboration has left an indelible mark on Bangladesh’s music and film industry. Though both artists have carved distinct identities in their respective fields, their musical partnership spans nearly one and a half decades. Starting with audio albums, the pair had not collaborated on a recording for seventeen long years—until now. Their eagerly awaited return has already stirred waves of nostalgia among fans, evident from the overwhelming reactions on their social media posts and announcements about their new songs. Audiences are brimming with anticipation for the fresh melodies.

S A Haque Alik is not only a filmmaker and dramatist but also a gifted songwriter. Habib Wahid has composed and produced the music for Alik’s lyrics. Their collaboration dates back to 2007, when the song Bole To Diyechi Hridayer Kotha, performed by Habib and Nancy, featured as a bonus track on Shirin’s Punjabiwala album. Upon release, the song became an instant hit, eventually earning acclaim in Kolkata’s Tollywood as well. Its inclusion in the film Bindas, where actors Dev and Srabanti lip-synced the track, further cemented its popularity across borders.

In 2008, Habib’s album Bolchi Tomake featured three more songs penned by Alik. Tracks like Bolo Keno Emon Hoy and Jochona Kotha Bolo Na were sung by Habib himself, while Ki Name Dakbo Tomay Neel Jochona was performed by his father, Ferdous Wahid. Their collaboration extended seamlessly into cinema. In Alik-directed films such as Akash Chhoa Bhalobasha, Habib’s voice in Prithibir Jot Sukho Jot Bhalobasha became a superhit, while subsequent films including Aro Bhalobashbo Tomay, Ek Prithibi Prem, and Golui continued to showcase the magic of their combined musical and lyrical talents.

Alik reflected, “Our bond has always been sincere. Naturally, when album releases slow down, we each get busy. Working with Habib is always a joy, and this time is no different.” Habib’s own commitments to new singles contributed to the long pause.

Now, after years of anticipation, their new track Piriti Shikhaili is set to premiere on Habib Wahid’s YouTube channel. This marks not just a single song but the return of a full set of eight new compositions. Blending cherished memories, past triumphs, and renewed expectations, the Habib–Alik duo proves that true artists never fade—they simply wait for the perfect moment to make their grand return.
