Dhaka, Bangladesh: Amidst a series of recent concert cancellations in Dhaka—from Azmat Ali to Anub Jain, and from Pakistan’s Jaal Band to local act Kabish—music enthusiasts were anxious whether the upcoming performance by popular Pakistani singer Atif Aslam would go ahead as scheduled. The concert, set for 13 December, has been the subject of widespread speculation: would it be cancelled, would ticket refunds be issued, and would Atif perform in full?
Organisers Main Stage Inc have now provided reassurance. In a statement released alongside the announcement of the venue, they confirmed that all necessary permissions have been obtained and that audience convenience and safety have been prioritised. The concert will take place at the China-Bangladesh Friendship Exhibition Centre (CBFC) in Purbachal, with enhanced security measures, controlled entry and exit points, and regulated parking and traffic management to ensure a smooth experience.
A significant highlight of this concert is its humanitarian component. Main Stage Inc, in collaboration with Spirit of July, a charitable initiative, has pledged 40% of total concert proceeds to the July Martyrs Memorial Foundation. The funds will be used for the long-term support of families of those martyred or injured during the July movement, reflecting a socially responsible dimension to the musical event.
In partnership with the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC), organisers will provide a free shuttle service for concert-goers. Shuttle buses will run between 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm from Kuril Bus Stand to the venue, with ticket verification at the pickup point. Following the concert, free return buses will operate from 11:00 pm to midnight, ensuring safe transport back to Kuril Bus Stand.
The concert will feature Atif Aslam as the headline performer, with additional performances by renowned music director and producer Fuad, Nemesis Band, and several prominent Bangladeshi artists. Organisers emphasised that all previous venue-related complications have been resolved, ensuring that attendees will enjoy a safe, well-managed, and unforgettable musical experience.
