A new cultural programme, ‘Anima’s Gaanghor’, presented by eminent Rabindra Sangeet artist and Chair of the Music Department at Jagannath University, Dr. Anima Roy, is set to offer an intimate window into the lives and philosophies of Bangladesh’s foremost cultural figures.
Produced for the Kolahal Communications Platform, the show aims to explore the artistic journeys, personal philosophies, and creative visions of distinguished personalities from various branches of music and culture. Each episode adopts the style of a baithaki adda, fostering relaxed, conversational interactions rather than formal interviews.
Dr. Anima Roy explained the motivation behind the programme:
“Music has been the compass of my life. I wanted to create a space where artists could share their journeys, insights, and reflections—a living archive of conversations with those devoted to song. That idea became ‘Anima’s Gaanghor’.”
The programme is directed and produced by Tanvir Tarek, with each episode ranging between 40 minutes and one hour. Through informal yet in-depth conversations, guests share insights into their personal lives, artistic practices, and underlying philosophies, creating a bridge between the audience and the soul of cultural practice.
Several episodes have already been recorded, featuring renowned artists such as Fatema Tuz Johra, Rabindra Sangeet performer Fahim Hossain Chowdhury, singer and music director Tanvir Alam Sajib, and vocalist Fatema-Tuz-Johra Oishi.
The show is set to broadcast every Friday at 10:00 PM across five platforms: the Kolahal official page, Tanvir Tarek’s official YouTube channel, the Swadhin Music app, and two additional streaming platforms.
The premiere episode will air on Friday, 3 April, featuring Tanvir Alam Sajib as the first guest. Audiences can expect a deep dive into his musical journey, inspirations, and reflections on contemporary culture.
