Arfin Rumi Discusses Absence, Fame, and Musical Revival

Once a household name with a string of hit songs, singer Arfin Rumi had remained largely out of the public eye for several years. He cited Shakib Khan, Bangladesh’s leading film star, as an example. “Even the biggest superstars like Shakib Khan now select projects carefully. Whereas earlier he might release multiple films a year, today he appears in only one or two.”

Rumi elaborated that at a certain level of popularity, an artist’s name remains prominent, but the individual cannot constantly be in the public eye. Continuous work is not always feasible, and overexposure may even harm one’s standing in the entertainment market.

After years away, Rumi has returned to music with renewed focus. In recent years, he has been active again in playback singing for dramas and films, as well as working as a music director and composer. He emphasises that his current efforts are aimed at rebuilding his presence and artistic identity, rather than merely seeking fame.
