A special concert is set to be held in Dhaka in protest against an incident in which Syed Hasanur Rahman Hasan, vocalist of the band Ark, was targeted with a water bottle while performing on stage. The event will also seek to highlight the importance of respect, safety and freedom for musicians during live performances.
Titled ‘Loud City Takeover’, the concert will take place on 4 September at the auditorium of the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) in Farmgate, Dhaka. The event is being organised by Get Amped Series and Pickup Point Communication, with sponsorship from X Force Presence.
The incident involving Hasan occurred on 5 August during the concert ‘Barsha Biplober Gaan’, organised at Manik Mia Avenue to mark the ‘July Mass Uprising’ Day. Hasan was performing on stage when a member of the audience threw a water bottle towards him.
The incident subsequently drew widespread attention within the music community and among concertgoers. It was also discussed extensively on social media, with concerns raised over the behaviour of audiences at live events and the need to maintain a safe environment for performers.
According to the organisers, the upcoming concert is intended not only as a response to what happened to Hasan but also as a platform to communicate a broader message about the safety and artistic freedom of performers. Live music depends on a respectful relationship between artists and audiences, and incidents involving objects being thrown towards a stage can disrupt performances and create safety concerns for those on stage.
Hasan himself will return to the stage with his band Ark during the event. He will be joined by members of several other bands, including Cryptic Fate, Carnival, Level Five, Metal Error and Achar. Solo performances will be delivered by AK Rahul, while rapper Black Jang will also perform.
The organisers have announced that the auditorium entrance will open to audiences at 2pm on the day of the concert. The programme will begin at 3.30pm and continue until 9.30pm, bringing together performances from a range of artists and bands.
The event therefore combines musical performances with a message about responsible audience behaviour and the treatment of performers. For artists, a live stage is a workplace as much as it is a space for creative expression. Ensuring that performers can work without facing unnecessary risks is essential to maintaining a healthy concert culture.
With Hasan scheduled to perform alongside several established acts, ‘Loud City Takeover’ is expected to put both music and the issue of stage safety at the centre of attention. The organisers are using the concert itself as the means of expressing their objection to the incident and reaffirming the need for respect and security at live music events.
