Music enthusiasts and legends of the Bangladeshi rock scene have united to commemorate the birth anniversary of the iconic singer, guitarist, and songwriter Ayub Bachchu. To mark the occasion, a special tribute album titled Uttoradhikar (Heritage), featuring re-recorded renditions of 20 of his most cherished tracks, has been officially released. Alongside the album launch, a grand tribute concert has been organised in Bandarban to honour the legacy of the late pioneer of Bangladeshi band music.

The commemorative album includes legendary anthems such as ‘Cholo Bodle Jai’, ‘Hashte Dekho’, ‘Ghumonto Shohore’, ‘Ekhon Onek Rat’, ‘Koshto Pete Bhalobashi’, ‘Ferari Ei Mon’, ‘Bangladesh’, and ‘Mon Chaile Mon’. A diverse lineup of contemporary bands and solo artistes participated in the project, including Dalchhut, Arbovirus, Sonar Bangla Circus, Shuvoyatra, Calypso, Rocksalt, Dopamine, A.K. Rahul, and former bandmates and vocalists Babna Karim, Russell Ali, Romel Ali, Chandan Zaman Ali-Menon, Kaniz Suborna, Sazzad, Palash, Joy Shahriar, Adit, Bakhtiar Hossain, Atika Yamin, and Autumnal Moon.

Mastered by renowned musician Iqbal Asif Jewel, the album has been released both online and in physical CD format. The initiative was spearheaded by the Ayub Bachchu Foundation, with all proceeds generated from the album dedicated to the establishment of the proposed Ayub Bachchu Museum—a project aimed at preserving the late rock star’s guitars, personal artifacts, and musical legacy.

Speaking about the initiative, Ferdous Akhtar Chandana, the late musician’s wife and Chairman of the Ayub Bachchu Foundation, stated that a press conference was organised to unveil the album cover, share the behind-the-scenes creation of Uttoradhikar, and present the future plans for the foundation and museum.

Simultaneously, ‘A Tribute to Ayub Bachchu Concert’ was hosted at the Small Ethnic Groups Cultural Institute Auditorium in Bandarban. Organised by ‘The Band Music of Bandarban’, the event featured performances by 10 local bands, alongside a special appearance by the band of Romel, the longtime drummer for Bachchu’s iconic band, LRB (Love Runs Blind).

Ayub Bachchu, who passed away in October 2018, remains one of the most influential figures in South Asian rock music, celebrated for his soulful vocals and revolutionary guitar playing that inspired generations of musicians across the region.
