Sujit Mustafa and Munmun Ahmed, who married in 1993 and have been in matrimony for over three decades, are set to appear together on stage for the first time in a joint performance. The event will take place on 15 May at Hotel InterContinental, Dhaka, under the title “An Evening of Music and Dance”. The programme is being organised by the Artists Club.
According to Munmun Ahmed, both artists have frequently performed individually at events organised by the Artists Club. She noted that audiences often expressed interest in seeing Sujit Mustafa’s singing combined with her dance performance, suggesting that a joint presentation would create a distinctive artistic experience. She added that over time, the idea developed naturally, as both understand each other’s artistic approach well, which would contribute to a unique stage atmosphere.
When asked about the challenge of performing as co-artists in addition to their personal relationship as husband and wife, Munmun Ahmed stated that Sujit Mustafa is a highly accomplished artist. She acknowledged that sharing the stage with him would be challenging, but also described it as an enjoyable and inspiring experience.
The two-hour programme will feature a structured sequence of performances. Sujit Mustafa will perform solo for approximately one and a half hours, presenting a selection of his original compositions, popular songs, and works written by his father, Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal. The programme will also include a special segment featuring two joint performances, in which Sujit Mustafa will sing while Munmun Ahmed performs dance simultaneously on stage. In addition, Munmun Ahmed will present a solo dance performance.
Organisers have confirmed that the ticket price for the event is 5,000 Taka.
Sujit Mustafa has been active in music for more than five decades, establishing himself as a recognised singer. Munmun Ahmed has also maintained a professional career in dance for nearly five decades, contributing significantly to the field of performing arts.
