The 20th edition of the TMSS-Channel I Music Awards is set to celebrate the harmonious blend of Bengali musical tradition and contemporary innovation. The grand event will take place on 7 April at the open-air grounds of the five-star Momo Inn Hotel & Resort in Bogura, northern Bangladesh, and will continue from evening into the night, promising a vibrant musical spectacle.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to Bengali music, this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to the celebrated singer Konokchapa, whose melodious voice has left an indelible mark on modern Bengali songs. Simultaneously, the folk music icon Kangalini Sufia will receive a Special Honour for her lifelong dedication to traditional songs. Her exceptional performances in rural and soulful music have enriched Bengal’s folk repertoire, inspiring both audiences and aspiring artists alike.
Reflecting on her award, Konokchapa said, “This is a profound honour for me. This recognition will inspire me to continue creating and sharing music.” Meanwhile, Kangalini Sufia expressed, “Folk music is my meditation and wisdom. This honour will also encourage artists from the margins of society.”
Beyond these prestigious accolades, the ceremony will distribute awards across 18 categories, encompassing modern, folk, film, and band music. Categories include Best Male Singer, Best Female Singer, Best Song, Best Album, Best Band, Best Film Song, Best Music Director, and Best Lyricist. Nominations have surged in every category, highlighting the competitive spirit of this year’s awards.
