Megan Thee Stallion has been hospitalised after falling “very ill” during a performance of Moulin Rouge! The Musical in New York City.
The 31-year-old Texas rapper and actor, whose real name is Megan Pete, is making her Broadway debut in the production, playing the role of Zidler in an eight-week run that is scheduled to continue until 17 May.
A representative confirmed that Megan became unwell while performing on stage last night, Tuesday 31 March. “Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated,” they said, via Consequence. “We will share additional updates as more information becomes available.”
Her hairstylist, Kellon Deryck, took to X (formerly Twitter) to write: “Everyone say a prayer for Megan, we are all at the hospital.” Further details regarding her condition have not yet been released.
Megan’s role as Zidler has attracted widespread attention, as she is the first female-identifying performer worldwide to take on the character. Following her first performance in March, she expressed her excitement on social media: “So grateful for this incredible cast & crew & everyone who worked so hard to make opening night a success!! HOTTIES IM ON BROADWAY!!”
