After a decade-long hiatus, Band Six has returned to the music scene with renewed vigour. The group first rose to prominence in 2012 after winning the youth rock musician reality show ‘Nescafé Get Set Rock’, capturing the attention of music enthusiasts across the country. This Valentine’s Day, the band has unveiled a musical film titled ‘Bhalobashi’, which premiered yesterday at 8:00 PM on the band’s YouTube channel, Spotify, and all major global streaming platforms.
The film features the song:
“Aaj ekhono achhi ami / Thakte chai aro kichu khon / Dekhte tomar nil noyon / Harabo ami”,
a track that was first heard on FM radio over a decade ago but never received an official commercial release. This long-unreleased song now forms the heart of the musical film, marking a significant comeback for the band.
Band leader and bassist Rakibul Romans explained that the band’s activities came to a halt in December 2015, which also interrupted the production of their second album. However, last year the band returned to recording and performing. Guitarist and producer Rezwan Ashraf, currently working from overseas, has been coordinating production remotely. Band Six plans to release new singles gradually, building anticipation for their forthcoming album.
A Musical Film Rooted in Real Life
The song ‘Bhalobashi’ was written and composed by the band’s drummer Arif Shishir, inspired by a personal tale of love and separation. Rakibul Romans said,
“When we decided to revisit this song, we immediately thought of turning it into a musical film to bring the real story to life. The lead character is Arif Shishir himself. Given his acting experience, he naturally took on the principal role. We avoided portraying negativity; instead, the film highlights the enduring connection and longing between two people even after they part ways.”
The musical film is directed by Shaurin, bringing a cinematic touch to the band’s heartfelt composition.
Band Six recently released ‘Ei To Shomoy 2’, the first single from their upcoming second album. ‘Bhalobashi’ will serve as the album’s second track, signalling a strong return to the music scene after years of silence.
The following table summarises Band Six’s recent releases and upcoming plans:
| Track / Project Name | Release Date | Notes / Significance |
|---|---|---|
| Ei To Shomoy 2 | Late 2025 | First single from second album |
| Bhalobashi | 14 February 2026 | Musical film; second album track |
| Upcoming Singles | 2026–2027 | Planned sequential releases, international production |
The comeback of Band Six has been warmly received by fans, particularly those who followed the band during their initial rise in the 2010s. With a blend of nostalgia and contemporary production, ‘Bhalobashi’ cements their place in the modern rock scene while honouring the personal stories that shaped their music.
