Goher Mumtaz and Aima Baig Unite Musically

Renowned Jal frontman Goher Mumtaz has unveiled a breezy new single, ‘Har Saal’, featuring the celebrated singer Aima Baig. This release marks Mumtaz’s first standalone collaboration with Baig, though both artists have shared vocal space previously in film soundtracks. The track also incorporates contributions from Mumtaz’s band Jal, creating a unique three-way collaboration that has already caught the attention of fans across South Asia.

The song, both written and composed by Mumtaz, was released on Monday along with an accompanying music video. Announcing the launch on Instagram, Mumtaz kept the caption simple yet effective:

“Aima Baig x Goher Mumtaz x JAL.”

Music Video and Concept :

Produced by Goher Mumtaz Productions, the music video emphasises intimacy and relaxed vibes rather than spectacle. It opens with Mumtaz experimenting on a keyboard before switching to his comfort zone, the guitar, after a brief moment of playful frustration. This transition cues Baig’s entrance mid-pour of orange juice, effortlessly blending her vocals with the melody.

The video then unfolds into a series of warm, unscripted moments, showcasing the duo singing, jamming, and interacting with a casual charm reminiscent of old friends or lovers. The catchy pop-oriented melody carries the scene forward naturally, never forcing its appeal, and perfectly complements the lighthearted, romantic undertone of the song.

Two weeks before the release, the artists teased ‘Har Saal’ with a short trailer, featuring the line:

“Some stories are told in harmony.”
This succinctly encapsulated the soft, melodic energy of the track.

Previous Collaborations :

This is not Mumtaz and Baig’s first musical encounter. In Mumtaz’s 2024 film Abhi, in which he starred opposite Kubra Khan, the soundtrack featured contributions from Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Tanya Wells, Nish Asher, Baig, and Mumtaz himself. Multi-instrumentalist duo Leo Twins also played a pivotal role in shaping the film’s music. During the project, Mumtaz and Baig collaborated on the track ‘Saathiya’.

Reflecting on that experience, Mumtaz remarked:

“All the songs picturised on Kubra have been sung by Aima.”
