On the auspicious occasion of Victory Day, Bangladesh Television (BTV) proudly presents a unique musical programme, Immortal History, produced entirely in-house. This one-of-a-kind event celebrates the spirit of the nation’s hard-won independence and pays tribute to the country’s glorious heritage through evocative patriotic music.
The programme features ten brand-new compositions penned by the eminent lyricist and host, Adhira Jahan. The melodies and musical arrangements have been masterfully crafted by renowned composer Alam Ara Minu, whose creativity has added a fresh and inspiring dimension to the songs. The vocal performances showcase some of Bangladesh’s most distinguished artists, including Samina Chowdhury, Fahmida Nabi, Rizia Parvin, Rumana Islam, Agun, Alam Ara Minu, Rajib, Muhin, Marufa Trishna, Sozib, Sukanya, Swarlipi, Raya, Anannya, Mauri, and Laboni. The exceptionally talented Ujjol also lends his remarkable touch to the musical tapestry.
Immortal History is not merely a musical celebration; it represents a convergence of four generations of artists, uniting their talents in a creative harmony that elevates the programme to a momentous cultural experience. Adhira Jahan herself presents the show, infusing every segment with life and charm.
Reflecting on the project, Adhira Jahan said, “BTV has always been the nurturing ground of my artistic journey. I first experienced the lights and cameras of BTV as a child artist in 2004, and since then, I have undertaken numerous projects. Yet, Immortal History stands out as one of the crowning achievements of my career.”
Composer Alam Ara Minu remarked, “This work has intensified my dedication to music manifold. Every artist expressed how perfectly the lyrics and melodies harmonised. The beauty of these songs has inspired them to give their very best in performance.”
Artist Samina Chowdhury shared, “Singing songs imbued with such tender words and melodies has been an immense joy.” Fahmida Nabi added, “It is heartening that in our country, two women—a lyricist and a composer—have collaborated to create such a rich and extraordinary programme. We, as performers, have sung with pure delight.”
The programme will be broadcast on BTV today, 16 December, offering viewers an unforgettable journey through patriotism, artistry, and the timeless legacy of Bangladesh’s independence.
