Bangladesh’s rock-music community has been dealt a major blow following an unexpected announcement from the organisers of the much-anticipated concert “Legends Live in Dhaka.” The event, which was to feature Bangladeshi rock icon James (often hailed as Nagar Baul) and Ali Azmat, the legendary vocalist of Pakistan’s famed Sufi-rock band Junoon, has been postponed at the eleventh hour.
According to the organisers, Ascend Communication, preparations had been in full swing, with stage construction, lighting arrangements and promotional activity already nearing completion. However, the company has confirmed that it was unable to secure essential permits from the local administration, forcing all event-related work to be halted for the time being.
In an emergency statement shared across social media, the organisers announced:
“Owing to unforeseen circumstances, today’s show ‘Ali Azmat x James – Legends Live in Dhaka’ has been postponed.”
The statement formally confirmed the halt and explained that the absence of administrative clearance was the primary obstacle. They emphasised that discussions are under way to finalise a new date as swiftly as possible.
To reassure concert-goers, the organisers also stated that previously purchased tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled event. Those who prefer not to wait will be offered a refund option. The announcement expressed gratitude towards sponsors, ticket holders and stall owners for their patience and continued support during this setback.
The programme had promised a powerful multi-artist line-up. Alongside James and Ali Azmat, rising performers Poonam and Madhubanti Chakraborty were scheduled to take the stage, adding to the excitement surrounding the show.
