Govinda Hospitalized: Actor’s Health Declines, Fans and Colleagues Express Concern

Bollywood superstar Govinda has been rushed to hospital after suddenly falling ill. On Tuesday night, he collapsed unconscious at home and was quickly taken to a medical facility. Sources confirm that Govinda had been feeling unwell for some time, and as his condition worsened, he was admitted to the emergency department.

Govinda’s lawyer and close friend, Lalit Bindal, spoke to Indian media outlet India Today, stating, “Govinda was feeling a bit confused and unbalanced. We’ve completed all necessary tests, and we are now awaiting the opinion of neuro specialists. However, his physical condition is now stable.”

Doctors report that Govinda’s health is improving, and he is currently under intensive observation. While the situation remains concerning, his family and medical team remain hopeful for his recovery.

In a related event, just the day before, Govinda visited Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital to see veteran actor Dharmendra, who had been undergoing treatment. Dharmendra was discharged from the hospital the following morning after spending several days there.

Govinda made his debut in Bollywood in 1986 with the film Ilzaam and went on to star in numerous hit films that cemented his place as one of the industry’s top actors. His notable films include Aankhen, Haseena Maan Jayegi, Coolie No. 1, Raja Babu, Partner, and many others. Over his long career, he has appeared in more than 140 films. While he has made fewer appearances in films in recent years, he remains popular through reality shows and special guest appearances.

Fans and colleagues are expressing their concerns and well wishes for Govinda’s swift recovery.

Meanwhile, veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra’s wife, actress and Member of Parliament Hema Malini, has spoken out against the spread of fake news regarding Dharmendra’s health on social media. In a post on her X (formerly Twitter) account, she condemned the rumours, writing, “What is happening is unforgivable! How can a responsible media outlet spread such fake news about someone who is undergoing treatment and slowly recovering? This is extremely disrespectful and irresponsible behaviour. Show proper respect to the family and their privacy.”

Dharmendra was visited in the hospital by his wife, Hema Malini, sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, actress Ameesha Patel, and several Bollywood stars including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Govinda.

Dharmendra, born Dharam Singh Deol in 1935 in Ludhiana, Punjab, rose from humble beginnings in a poor farming family to become one of Bollywood’s most iconic figures. His journey to fame began when he won the Filmfare Talent Contest in 1960 and moved to Mumbai. His breakthrough role came in Phool Aur Patthar (1966), which established him as Bollywood’s action hero. Throughout the following decades, Dharmendra became a household name with films like Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Jadugar, Dharam Veer, Do Raaste, and Mera Gaon Mera Desh.

Dharmendra’s personal life is also intertwined with his career, particularly his marriage to Hema Malini in 1980, one of the most talked-about unions in Bollywood. Together, they appeared in over 30 films, including Seeta Aur Geeta, Dream Girl, Shree 420, and Jugnu, which are still beloved by fans today. Dharmendra’s two sons from his first wife, Prakash Kaur, Sunny and Bobby Deol, have also carved out successful careers in Bollywood.
