The annual Dhallywood Film and Music Awards, traditionally held in the United States since 2002 to celebrate the rich heritage of Bengali cinema, music, theatre, and culture, will be hosted in Dhaka for the first time. The event is organised by Showtime Music and Play.
On Sunday night, a press conference was held at a club in Gulshan, Dhaka, to announce the change of venue. Attendees included musicians Robi Chowdhury, Shawkat Ali Emon, Shahnaz Beli, and presenter-producer Debashish Biswas, among others.
The organisers stated that in previous years, the event in the United States had greatly enhanced Bangladesh’s image abroad. Continuing its tradition of success, the 2026 awards ceremony will take place on 9th January at the China-Bangladesh Friendship International Conference Centre in Dhaka.
As in previous years, the event will be organised by Showtime Music and Play’s CEO Alamgir Khan Alam and Vice President Shahin Kabir.
Alamgir Khan Alam said, “I am extremely delighted that the 25th edition will be held in our motherland. The Dhallywood Film and Music Awards 2026 is more than just an event; it is an emotion, where the entire nation will celebrate the triumph of Bangladesh’s cinema and culture.”
During the press conference, Showtime Music and Play emphasised that this year’s event aims to showcase Bangladesh’s cinema and culture on a global stage, encourage emerging talent, and elevate the proud heritage of Dhallywood to new heights. The ceremony will bring together legendary stars and the next generation of creative artists.
More than 30 prominent figures will be honoured for their outstanding work in 2025, inspiring and enriching the next generation of artists.
