LAMC Announces Dates for 2026 Conference: ‘What Was Once Alternative is Now Mainstream’

The Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC) has revealed its dates for the 2026 edition, Billboard can exclusively announce today (5th November).

After a star-studded 2025 event featuring artists like Camilo, Morat, Yami Safdie, Ela Taubert, and Leo Rizzo, the LAMC will return to New York City from 28th July to 1st August 2026. The five-day conference will be hosted at the International New York Times Square, continuing its tradition of offering a platform for panels, workshops, showcases, and networking opportunities with industry leaders and music enthusiasts alike.

Next year marks the 27th anniversary of the LAMC, and as founder Tomas Cookman notes, it has always been a space where both familiar faces and fresh talent come together. “Every year we see familiar names from our industry, but also a lot of new faces,” Cookman said in a press statement. “It’s where indies, majors, and the kaleidoscope of genres and artists that form what is Latin music today meet. We initially started with a focus on what was once called ‘alternative’, but what was alternative is now mainstream. The LAMC helps provide opportunities for the next generation of the industry to meet and learn from those that have come before them.”

In addition to the conference, the LAMC will also announce its Wonder Women of Latin Music Class of 2026 honourees, recognising the women making significant contributions to the Latin music scene. Among those already honoured are Billboard’s own Leila Cobo, Griselda Flores, Sigal Ratner-Arias, Isabela Raygoza, and Jessica Roiz, as well as over 120 other professionals.
