Indie Fest Returns with New Date

The much-anticipated “Indie Fest”, a cross-border music celebration featuring emerging and contemporary artists from Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan, is set to take place on a newly confirmed date after being postponed last month due to administrative approval delays.

According to the organisers, Twenty Communications, the event will now be held on 8 May at the Courtside venue on Madani Avenue (commonly referred to as the 100-feet road area) in the capital. The concert was originally scheduled for 24 April, but last-minute complications regarding official permissions forced a postponement, despite tickets already being on sale at the time. The delay had disappointed many music enthusiasts who had been eagerly awaiting the event and following updates on social media.

The revised schedule now offers a more structured arrangement. Entry for attendees will begin at 3:00 pm, while the main performances are set to start at 6:00 pm. Organisers have emphasised that the early entry window is designed to ensure smooth crowd management, reduce congestion, and allow the audience to settle comfortably before the performances begin.

This year’s edition brings together a vibrant mix of artists representing the contemporary indie and alternative music scenes of South Asia. From Pakistan, acclaimed vocalist Abdul Hannan and the band Bayaan will be performing. India will be represented by the alternative rock group Talpatar Shepai, while Bangladesh’s presence will be marked by the band Level Five. The lineup is expected to showcase a blend of lyrical storytelling, experimental soundscapes, and youthful musical expression, reflecting the growing popularity of independent music across the region.

Tickets for the event are being sold through the online platform Tickify, with multiple pricing tiers designed to accommodate students as well as general audiences. The organisers have highlighted their intention to make the festival inclusive and accessible while maintaining a premium live music experience.

In recent years, large-scale international music events in Bangladesh have faced interruptions due to regulatory complexities and security-related considerations. Several announced concerts were either delayed or cancelled altogether, sometimes even after international performers had arrived in the country.

Within this context, the successful rescheduling of Indie Fest is being viewed by many in the cultural sector as a positive development. It signals a renewed possibility for more consistent international collaboration in the live music scene and a gradual revival of large-scale alternative music festivals in the country.

Organisers have expressed optimism that the event will proceed smoothly this time, without further administrative setbacks. They also hope the festival will offer audiences a safe, well-managed, and memorable musical experience, while strengthening cultural exchange across South Asia’s emerging independent music communities.
