Popular Bangladeshi singers Imran Mahmudul and Nazmun Munira Nancy have reunited for a film playback song after a lengthy break, lending their voices to a romantic duet for the upcoming thriller Shikar.
The song, titled “Dujon Mile Bachbo Ek Jibon” (“Together We Will Live One Life”), has been recorded for the film, directed by Kamruzzaman Roman. The collaboration marks the return of one of Bangladesh’s most popular playback duos and has already generated considerable excitement among music enthusiasts and the country’s film industry.
Written by acclaimed lyricist Kabir Bakul, the romantic track has been composed and arranged by Imran Mahmudul. Recording was completed last Sunday, according to the production team.
The reunion is being viewed as a significant moment for Bangladeshi film music. Over the years, Imran and Nancy have delivered several successful duets, earning praise for their vocal chemistry and emotional performances. Their collaborations have featured in films, television dramas and independent music projects, making them one of the most recognisable playback pairings in the industry.
Speaking about the new song, Nancy expressed her delight at working with Imran again after a long interval.
“Working with Imran is always a wonderful experience. The lyrics and melody are exceptionally beautiful, and I believe the song will touch the hearts of listeners. I’m delighted to return with such a quality film song after a long break,” she said.
Imran was equally enthusiastic about the collaboration, describing Nancy as one of the country’s finest singers.
“Nancy is one of the strongest voices in Bangla music. Singing a duet with her is always a special feeling. I have high expectations for this new song and hope audiences will enjoy it,” he said.
In addition to performing the duet, Imran’s role as composer and music arranger gives the project a personal touch. Over the past decade, he has established himself as one of Bangladesh’s leading contemporary musicians, balancing successful careers as a singer, songwriter and music director. Nancy, meanwhile, remains one of the country’s most respected playback artists, renowned for her expressive vocals and numerous hit songs across film and modern Bangla music.
The pairing of Kabir Bakul’s heartfelt lyrics with Imran’s composition is expected to produce a melody that blends contemporary musical arrangements with the emotional appeal that has long characterised Bangladeshi film songs.
Shikar stars Apu Biswas and Murtaza Palash in the lead roles and is being produced as a thriller, a genre that has steadily gained popularity in Bangladesh as audiences increasingly embrace suspense-driven storytelling alongside traditional commercial cinema.
The production team is expected to travel to Nepal shortly, where the film’s entire shooting schedule is planned to take place. Nepal’s scenic mountains, valleys and natural landscapes are set to provide the backdrop for the story, with principal photography scheduled to be completed entirely on location.
The supporting cast includes Mahmudul Islam Mithu, Rashed Mamun Apu and several other performers in prominent roles.
Music continues to play an essential role in the success of Bangladeshi cinema, often shaping public anticipation well before a film reaches theatres. Memorable soundtrack songs frequently become hits in their own right, helping to build momentum for upcoming releases.
The return of Imran and Nancy as a playback duo is therefore expected to generate additional interest in Shikar. Fans of both artists have long appreciated their musical partnership, and the release of “Dujon Mile Bachbo Ek Jibon” is likely to be one of the film’s major attractions.
As Shikar moves into its production phase, expectations are rising for both the thriller and its soundtrack. With two of Bangladesh’s most accomplished playback singers joining forces once again, the new duet is poised to become one of the most closely watched musical releases associated with the film.
