A musical evening titled ‘Moments with Rezwana Choudhury Bannya’ and Rabindranath’s dance drama Shyama was held at the Chinese Cultural Centre in Toronto, Canada.
After a long time, the Bangladeshi expatriate audience enjoyed Rabindra Sangeet performed by renowned Padma Shri awardee Dr. Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, immersing themselves in her melodious voice. The artist captivated the Toronto audience with music for over two hours.
The event was organised by the local Tapas-Nahid Dance Academy. Renowned Bangladeshi dance guru Laila Hasan inaugurated the programme, followed by the presentation of Rabindranath’s dance drama Shyama by the organisers. The artistic direction of the event was managed by theatre artist Selim S H Chowdhury.
The organisers said Rabindranath’s literary works still touch many aspects of Bengali life. This initiative was taken to continue the practice of native art, literature, and culture among the younger generation living abroad.
