Baby DONT Cry: P Nation’s first girl group continues gaining momentum within the global K-pop arena

SEATTLE – As K-pop solidifies its global presence over the past decade through groups like BTS, BLACKPINK and TWICE, one artist who played a crucial role in exposing Korean pop culture to international audiences is PSY. His 2012 viral sensation ‘Gangnam Style’ became a worldwide cultural milestone. In 2018, PSY went on to establish P NATION, which has since grown into a prominent entertainment label nurturing some of the industry’s top performers.

Despite its rapid rise, the company lacked a girl group—until this year. In April, P NATION officially debuted its first-ever girl group, Baby DONT Cry, comprising four members who trained under PSY’s direct mentorship. Speaking to FOX 13, leader Yihyun shared that PSY frequently advised them on self-expression, individuality, and the importance of enjoying each performance without regret.

Their debut track, ‘F Girl’, achieved remarkable success. Within only four days of its release, the music video amassed over 20 million views on YouTube, later reaching 28 million views at the time of reporting. Yihyun said the song’s refreshing, catchy sound felt perfectly suited to express the group’s strong, confident persona.

The group has now returned with their first comeback single, ‘I DONT CARE’, which centres on resilience, ambition, and chasing one’s dreams. Member Mia expressed that they hoped to highlight their free-spirited and energetic nature through this comeback. Released on 19 November, the song blends pop elements with subtle rock influences.

Aged between 17 and 19, the members bring youthful vibrancy to their music. Beni explained that ‘I DONT CARE’ embodies honesty, confidence and staying true to one’s identity regardless of external opinions. Japanese member Kumi noted that singing the signature section of the track feels empowering, giving her renewed strength every time she performs it.

Although the group has been active for less than a year, their exposure to numerous live performances has transformed their confidence. Beni reflected that she previously worried about judgement from others, but performing repeatedly helped her understand that the real priority is enjoying the moment rather than striving for perfection.

The music video for ‘I DONT CARE’ surpassed 14 million views within two weeks, marking a significant achievement for a newly debuted group. Expressing heartfelt gratitude, Yihyun thanked their fanbase, Cherries, for their support and assured them that the group will continue offering strong and engaging performances in the future.
